Kokedama Workshop

Today I taught a Kokedama workshop at HAVEN Palm Beach!

Kokedama is Japanese for “Moss Ball”. It’s a Japanese art form where you transform a plant into a piece of sculpture. This art form is considered a type of bonsai.

Wabi-Sabi often comes up when talking about kokedama - it’s the beauty in the imperfection, and kokedama is not perfect, it’s a unique style and shape to you. Some will be flat bottomed to sit on a surface, some will be round to hang, some will be longer to have a more elegant form, they are all different and that’s what makes them beautiful.

Everything that the plant needs is within this ball of moss, and the plant can continue to grow and expand without being hindered by a pot. It’s a beautiful and calming element to bring into your home.
